What is World AIDS Day?
World AIDS Day, observed on December 1st, is a global awareness day dedicated to supporting people living with HIV, commemorating those who lost their lives, and educating communities about prevention and treatment.
Why is World AIDS Day important?
It spreads awareness, encourages HIV testing, reduces stigma, and highlights the need for continued global efforts toward prevention and treatment.
What is HIV?
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a virus that weakens the immune system and makes it harder for the body to fight infections.
How is HIV transmitted?
HIV spreads through infected needles, unprotected sexual contact, blood transfusion, with contaminated blood, and from mother to child during pregnancy, delivery, or breastfeeding.
Is HIV curable?
There is no cure yet, but HIV can be effectively controlled with antiretroviral therapy (ART), allowing individuals to live long, healthy lives.
Can a person with HIV live a normal life?
Absolutely. With proper treatment and regular medical care, people with HIV can live long, productive, and healthy lives.
How can we support World AIDS Day?
By raising awareness, wearing a red ribbon, educating others, fighting stigma, getting tested, supporting NGOs, and promoting safe health practices.
